The Logging Equipment Operator Academy is a 16-week course,

Monday, January 9, 2023 - Friday May 5, 2023

 

The Academy will meet five days a week, 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

There is a $50 nonrefundable registration fee.

This Academy is designed to equip participants with little to no experience in becoming a logging equipment operator with safety certifications, as well as Professional Logging Manager (PLM) status.

The Academy will consist of classroom instruction in forestry concepts, logging safety, and basic business concepts specific to logging.  Field sessions will reinforce classroom training and provide actual hands-on equipment training and operation. 

Logging equipment operators operate heavy machines, like skidders, feller-bunchers, loaders, dozers and graders. 

An operator must be able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding job that requires attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • We cannot accept a state ID card
  • $50 nonrefundable registration fee
  • Must be able to pass a DOT drug test
  • Must be able to provide own transportation
  • Previous experience with equipment operation (farm tractors, dozers, etc.) is desirable, but not required
