Description
This Title IX Professional Development course is designed to educate Hinds Community College students, faculty, and staff on the principles, protections, and responsibilities outlined under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and discrimination related to pregnancy or parenting.
Through this course, participants will:
- Understand their rights under Title IX and how the law applies to all members of the campus community.
- Recognize prohibited conduct, including sexual harassment, retaliation, and other forms of sex-based discrimination.
- Learn the roles and responsibilities of employees and administrators in preventing and responding to incidents.
- Explore supportive measures and resources available to those affected by misconduct, including counseling, reporting mechanisms, and accommodations.
- Understand campus procedures for reporting, investigating, and resolving Title IX complaints.
- Promote a culture of prevention and awareness through proactive engagement and by fostering a safe and respectful campus environment.
By completing this training, participants will be equipped to act responsibly and knowledgeably in situations involving potential Title IX violations, contribute to a supportive campus culture, and help ensure that Hinds Community College remains a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
